AHHHHHH Tony...if you're referring to the status...then from my perspecitve it holds true for seekers that are ESPECIALLY NOT realized and sufferring needlessly.

It's ENOUGH to be yourelf as "your" life takes you NATURALLY IN IT'S OWN WAY (meditation, gurus, god, drugs, sex, rock & toll) towards realization...This constant battle and distress over not being good-enough is really QUITE ENOUGH ALREADY!

WE are always in the image of the Divine. It's OUR NATURE.

Each is individual but there is a science......you have your own sadhana that's all....who you wish to idolise is irrelevant in Bhakti.

You know I don't have any opinion on Sadhana or removing kosas or whatever...I can only go by my experience, that's all I know for sure. I did 40 years of Sadhana, the works with Great Gurus...and find that my life is a SADHANA, an offering, a HAPPENING...I'm not even in a position to offer meditation or breathing or service - I leave that up to the BIG GUNS, like my Guru (who runs that particular show and it works and alleviates suffering for so many).

From my experience I can say Sadhana, a Guru WORKS or NOT. However, it works for me (whether in books, devotion, or alive. Others (for unknown reasons) don't need either and still FULLY recognize their Open-ended Vast Nature.

I just don't think there's a formula here (even tho that appearance is powerful to the contrary) because the formula itself and the ONES giving the formula iare Awesomely, incomprehensible MAYA...

There is always a SCIENCE, a practice, a crystal, magic, a special something given by the Rishi's, the Gods, Jesus, Krishna, Matreya, Ramtha WHATEVER...THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING that promises EVERYTHING, THE END OF ALL THE VASANAS, NO BIRTH, ENLIGHTENMENT, BABAJI (Eternally around) and it goes on & on.......

From my experience IT HAPPENS WHEN ITHAPPENS...(the path, your life, your happening, is very individual)..there is just a point when you STOP SEARCHING FOR ANYTHING...in full confidence of WHAT IS.

Until then try and do whatever you try and do to get there: Sadhana, science, poker, Bhakti...IT''s the Divine's game, it just aint that personal (although it sure seems that way, doesn't it?)
